WE BELIEVE IN:

Hard Work. We set high expectations and enjoy delighting clients.

Doing it Right. There are a lot of ways to build something but only a few ways "to do it right."

Supporting our Employees. We constantly challenge our people to take their competency to the next level. Attitude and outlook dictate who we hire for our team.

Learning All the Trades. We are builders, not just carpenters. Subcontractors respect us for our craft and competence.

Meeting New Challenges. We take on the impossible in both big and small ways.

PHILOSOPHY AND HISTORY

FROM KEITH ALWARD:

Keith Alward
PHILOSOPHY: My belief that building is a cooperative social activity is at the center of every important decision my company makes. It's the way we listen to each other, help and teach one another, and recognize the possibilities inherent in another point of view that has created the quality company we've become. The development of my employees and the fact that clients come back to my company time and again, all flow from a company culture that focuses on maintaining relationships.

HISTORY: I come from a ranch background where if something needed to be built, you built it. My first independent remodeling and design project was a studio for myself in high school.

Wood boat building, remodeling and work in a lumber yard preceded my coming to Berkeley to complete a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology.

After a decade in Educational Research and Development, I returned to my passion, building. I was a hands-on builder doing most of the trades myself. Helpers turned into full time employees and a business was born in 1979. While my interest in Developmental Psychology remains (a fifth edition of a coauthored book is coming out in 2011) my passion is building.
