COVENEY: EXTERIOR REMODEL

2003 NARI Region 7 CoTY Award, Interior Remodel

(The Coveney project was entered in competition by ALWARD CONSTRUCTION as an Interior Remodel because of its superb interior work, whereas, in fact, it was an entire house remodel. Here we are featuring its exterior.)

This house was raised 2 feet to accommodate a comfortable guest suite and full garage. This required rebuilding the stairs. In addition, a large two story steel moment frame was inserted into the front wall on either side of the garage opening. This entailed completely rebuilding the front wall. New doors and windows, new shingles, new siding and painting bring this small working class Victorian back to its original splendor. Out of view is a third story addition at the back of the house.

COVENEY: BASEMENT CONVERSION

2003 NARI Region 7 CoTY Award, Residential Interior

The Coveney family wanted to turn their 1893 working class Victorian into a home they could cherish for life. What started as a single story, 1 bathroom house with a dank dark basement, ended as a 3 story, 3 bathroom house with a master suite and study on the third floor and a guest suite on the ground level. The house was raised to provide comfortable head room in the basement. The unused attic space was expanded into the Master Bedroom Suite. The basement and middle floors were extended to provide a roomer kitchen and outside decking off the kitchen and over the guest suite.
